So what happens at Camp, anyway?

We hang out, play guitar, and study music—a lot!

Every camp is unique, with no strict formula, except for two things:

• A manageable number of participants

• Top-notch instructors who are not only great musicians, but great people

What we focus on

• Songs are the foundation of everything we do

• Plenty of hands-on playing, not just talking

• Classes and sessions may include topics such as:

  • Rhythm guitar

  • Playing a melody

  • Creating counter-lines

  • Accompanying a vocalist

  • Soloing over fast tunes

  Improvisation (a major focus)

  Past improvisation sessions have covered:

  • Targeting chord tones

  • Approaches to soloing over dominant chords

  • Using modes to color improvisations

  • Building solos with rhythm

  • Using blues language to spice up jazz playing

  • Range and tone development in improvisation
